You can see the beauty and the glory of the flower only when there is a flowering.”

– J. Krishnamurti

Yoga Retreat January 2017-2

Observing oneself through a place of stillness and silence, the outer layers of the self can begin to fade and exposed is the essence of what we are. Gathering in community to discuss important life questions, while practicing yoga together, allows for a unique space to be created where one can explore the subtleties of self-observation while receiving feedback from a group. At its root, yoga is about seeing clearly, and compliments the art of self-inquiry beautifully.

This retreat is an opportunity to examine life through a fresh lens as you engage the body and bring the full self into inquiry. Explore the coordination of movement with breath to bring attention to the subtle movements of the body, breath, and mind through yoga. We will also listen to Krishnamurti on subjects such as relationship, self-inquiry, and meditation. There will be daily yoga practices, a hike in the surrounding mountains, silent sittings, vegetarian meals, and open discussions.

We do not attempt to understand Krishnamurti’s teachings through the practice of yoga, but instead utilize this practice to directly engage with the body and begin to pay attention to it. When the body is tuned into, there is potential for a quality of awareness and attentiveness that is brought into inquiry. This kind of attention can bring about a unique sense of openness and connection. From this place, we sit together and explore life through dialogue.

Activities include a total of five yoga practices, a hike in the surrounding mountains, quiet sittings, vegetarian meals and dialogues together.

This event is suitable for anyone with an interest in yoga and a willingness for inner exploration. Open to all levels and abilities.
