Report and Overview on the 2009 Krishnamurti Summer Study-Intensive & Retreat Program for College Students and Adults
Our new 9-day Krishnamurti Summer Study-Intensive & Retreat Program for College Students and Adults / 2009, took place for the first time within the beautiful grounds of the new Krishnamurti Study Center Campus. The Summer Study-Intensive is a fully-immersive and sustained exploration into Krishnamurtis life-changing teachings. The aim of our Program is to provide the ideal atmosphere for participants to enter into an in-depth penetrating inquiry to find out for themselves what is actually preventing each of us from a transformation of consciousness, and to experience a shift from the linear thought-based mind to a new dimension of intelligence and awareness that Krishnamurti called insight. The emphasise of the work we do together is to help each participant create a ground for self-discovery and self-knowledge; we want to understand Krishnamurtis teachings for ourselves, deeply and clearly.
The Summer Study Campus consists of the Pepper Tree Retreat, which houses participants in comfortable, newly renovated rooms, and nearby, Pine Cottage, a large, multi-room residence where Krishnamurti lived. Each day we used Pine Cottages large main room to show a video of Krishnamurti. Lunch and dinner was served in the spacious dining room and lovely outside patio. Pine Cottage is also the home of the new Krishnamurti Library and a meditation room which used to be Krishnamurtis living quarters. Breakfast was served at the Pepper Tree Retreat.
This summers program combined college students with adults, which created a wonderful balance and mutual support in our work. Thanks to generous and dedicated donors who believe that college students should have the opportunity to study Krishnamurtis teachings in our programs, we were able to offer several Tuition Discounted Scholarships. Each qualifying student received $500 off the regular Tuition cost.
Together with 3 co-facilitators, Professor Satish Telegar, Richard Waxberg and Deborah Kerner, the 11 participants entered into 2 dynamically interactive, shared dialogues each day. The theme of this summers program was The Ending of Time, based on a series of explorative dialogues between Krishnamurti and physicist David Bohm.
The morning dialogue was held in the lush grassy area near the outdoor patio of the Pepper Tree Retreat. The evening dialogue was held in the patio area of Pine Cottage with its abundant flowering plants and trees.
The pulse of the 2 dialogues each day created the perfect opportunity for us to keep the undisturbed continuity of our inquiry intact from one dialogue to the next and from one day to the next. This had the effect of building intense energy together, and of establishing trust and a real sense of mutual affection. The result was a merging of each participants personal exploration into the intention of the entire groups shared dynamic inquiry, which propelled us to depths of seeing perhaps impossible to reach on our own.
The new Krishnamurti Study Center, held our important work together in a perfect balance of comfortable accommodations, good food, peace, and beauty.
We are excited to announce a new Krishnamurti Winter Study-Intensive & Retreat Program, for College Students and Adults/ Saturday, January 9 to Sunday, January 17 / 2010. The theme of this winters program is: The Ground of Silence, the Ending of Thought, and the Emergence of Creativity.
We are also excited to say, that once again, thanks to our generous and dedicated donors, we will be able to offer Discounted Scholarship Tuitions to qualifying college students.
The emphasise of this winters program will be on exploring that dimension of intelligence that exists beyond the thought-based mind, what Krishnamurti called insight; also we will examine the relationship between listening and silence, in which there is no interval of separation, nor fragmentation, only a direct seeing of the truth. We will also explore what we must do to bring about true creativity in our lives, to free the mind of all incumbrances so that our minds are free to meet life without the shadow of fear or sense of limitation.

Here are some quotes from this summers participants:
"This intensive program helped me to experience the power of observation and inquiry into the nature of the conditioned patterns of perceiving, thinking and feeling that is real for all humans. I am deeply indebted to Richard, Deborah and Satish, as program directors, for giving me the freedom to experience the core teachings of Krishnamurti.
With gratitude, Ann Porter"
"At the onset I would like to thank you for your kind hospitality and care for all of us at the summer program. I would like to share with you that I have been attending dialogues and gatherings for the last few years but have not felt the intensity that I felt in your program, and also it was accompanied with a lot of sensitivity and compassion which helped make us go deeper.
"I was also touched by the way you kept the fire of the dialogue alive. I really do wish you conducted more of these programs as it is the need of the day in the circumstances in the world. Id also like to mention the beautiful way Richard, Deborah and Satish complement each other and help us to go further. I feel I am watching myself from a deeper place than I have ever touched before.
Thank you. Warm greetings, Mansha Bulchandani"
"The Krishnamurti Summer Study Intensive has been a deeply revealing, superbly energizing, absolutely clarifying, and truly insightful sharing of intelligence! What a purely vital and significant transformation that has been catalyzed by this uniquely open and warm hearted atmosphere. Its been such a clarifying and inspiring sharing of life during the Intensive with you!
"During the intensive it was wonderful to be able to deeply see what is preventing listening from occurring. This Intensive is awesome!!
Thanks so much! Kevin Su Fukagawa"
"Thank you Richard, Deborah, and Satish for preparing the environment and program. I am truly amazed to have gotten a glimpse into the art of dialoguing in a group. It was a wonderful experience to be part of group exploration and inquiry... to delve deep into fear and illusion without conflict.
"Being at the retreat, being able to ask questions during the videos, hearing the questions and struggles of others that reflected my own, allowed Ks words and work to come more alive for me. I saw during the retreat, and more so since returning home, that there is no understanding this teaching intellectually, although thought certainly tries to own it... it must be felt with ones complete being. I admit to needing help... I am not likened to a new seed blowing in the wind, but rather an old tree who has been brought to the nursery after struggling for too long in the wrong environment with the wrong nourishment. I am confident though that even as my old withered limbs are cut away (thought, etc.) new life can come forward given proper care in the perfect environment.
"Thank you, each of you who participated with the special gift of your presence.
Love and Blessings, River Rose"
