Preserving the Teachings for a New Generation

Today more than ever, Krishnamurti’s teachings point the way for those interested in a radical transformation of the human mind and society. His work is concerned with the very deepest, most important issues of human existence: the ending of division and conflict, sorrow and confusion; the formation of a sane, healthy society; and educating our young free from the pressures of conformity and competition, and deeply connected to their planet and fellow human beings.

The Krishnamurti Endowment Fund will total $25 million. The Endowment Fund will remain with the Krishnamurti Foundation of America in perpetuity. The interest generated from principal will be used to complete or expand important projects and to ensure fiscal sustainability for the KFA so it can continue its operations far into the future. While distribution of interest remains under the direction of the board of trustees, financial support will benefit the following important KFA activities and goals:

  • The Krishnamurti Library and Archives in Ojai, California. Krishnamurti’s complete teachings are now available to anyone who visits the library, and the archive’s manuscripts, recordings, and videos are published on an ongoing basis through current books and recordings. The most important current development is to digitize the entire collection, so that it can be shared world-wide through the internet. Plans include free, downloadable text, video and audio. As fast as the KFA’s vast archive can be digitized, it will be made available through the internet at no cost, as a gold standard of authenticity for Krishnamurti’s work.

  • Publications. Through Krishnamurti Publications of America, the KFA publishes Krishnamurti books, recordings, and videos on an ongoing basis. Interest in K’s teachings is greater than ever, and the KFA is responding with many new titles. Recently the Foundation has been working on a Krishnamurti Complete Works project, and the need for multi-language editions of subtitled DVDs is rapidly increasing.

  • The Oak Grove School, a K-12 school founded by Krishnamurti in 1975. The school offers families from around the world the kind of education Krishnamurti talked about in Education and the Significance of Life. The school also provides training for educators across America who are interested in incorporating K’s teachings into their own school environment. Money is also needed for a faculty retention plan, to bring extremely low faculty salaries more in alignment with national public school averages, so we do not lose the wonderful resource of our teachers. The Oak Grove School can be specified as a giving option when making an endowment contribution.

  • Construction and operation of a North American Krishnamurti Study Center. Such a center was envisioned by Krishnamurti as a place for those serious about radical change-both inward and outward-to inquire together. For many years, the Foundation has held public dialogues and gatherings at Oak Grove School, and operated a small retreat at Arya Vihara in the East End of Ojai Now, more than ever, there is a need for a new facility where people can come together to explore, share, and work out the psychological/social issues contained in the teachings.

We invite you to join with us as we make the teachings available in the 21st century, and beyond.
