Kindly be mindful of the following points regarding the forum. Dialogue is thinking together - it isn’t debate - and it's inquiring together without end point or agenda. People come into the dialogue from their own place of understanding, which is not going to be your place of understanding. We’re here to communicate together, learn together and gain insight into our own thought; to receive and share our observations, not impose our views on others. Address the comments in a polite, considerate manner. By all means, ask for clarification, but challenge the comment, not the commentator. We don’t know enough about the others to make those judgments and we’re here to learn about ourselves, not to correct another's perceived personality flaws. If a comment brings an emotional response, look at that. Do you feel the need to defend? To attack? Time for some looking inward. Self protection results in war. Besides, the war is in each of us. Stop that war, and the rest will take care of itself. (For some suggestions on the nature of dialogue, please click here)

beauty .. friends ..

Recently it went through my mind how important it is to be able to see .. beauty. Beauty is everywhere, but can I see it? What is the state of mind seeing beauty? .. Then what crossed my mind is 'do we know what a friend is' ? We are so used of the back and forth battle of arguments that we forget what a friend actually is. When discussing with a friend there is not only the argument and the insisting, there is something else. Then do we see how important it is to be with quietness? Can I be, live with someone without talking all the time? Is it possible to be together in being quiet without that it disturbes anybody? In fact, I thought it would breathtaking to have a weekend with friends of K where 'to be quite' is given lots of space.

Re: beauty .. friends ..

I gladly accept you invitation ;-) I too think such a weekend would be great. A lot of the time people get together in order to do something, which is ok of course. But to get together not ignoring our mysterious life but putting it in the foreground would be the way to go, I feel.

Re: beauty .. friends ..

There is no beauty seen without being able to be with quietness. Having a friend is one of the most beautiful thing one can experience or have.

i may be in ojai in march 2013 for a retreat, we could make it a forum-family-gathering,
and after years of exchanging only words i suspect there will be much space for silence..

Sorry, my friends, to rise up my rough voice in your idyllic silence.

Sorry to be a bore, Kirsten, but I cannot restrain myself not to betray you a secret: there is no space in silence and if there is a space, there is no more silence.

I would be in Ojai the same moment I know I have something to do there.

This year I asked Krishnamurti Organization Australia about annual meeting.
In addition to studying of Teaching they offered me Tai-Chi and Bushwalks.
I said, what do I need a Tai-Chi for if I’m happy with my Pranayama and I’m sick from Bush to work around my place.
They told me, ether I buy everything packed or I just stay out.

Well, I know exactly what is in background of any organization. I know also what Krishnamurti bequeathed to his successors.

But his teaching is a very special matter as well as his bequest, not ordinary at all, is it?

yes of course, natura, the teachings are not to be caught in an idea of any sort..
the human mind is a commercial mind, always chasing after its believed benefit.

Yes, Kirsten, that’s exactly what I mean.

It’s so difficult to realize in practical life.

Re: beauty .. friends ..

Today is sunday, I enjoy the quite time in the morning. No background noise from the far traffic. - Do I need any organization for this? - Not sure what I will be doing 15 months from now. But the idea that some of us here meet at some place, is excellent. As I understand Kirsten lives on a quite place.

I guess you don’t need anyone to enjoy this time.
But the question is to enjoy silence.
Silence is not exactly stillness.
I bet you know the difference, WB.

Sharing with you that

What, on the ears, is a quiet place today?

Several months back some people in Norway thought it might be a little island. You remember?

(will never happen to you, Kirsten)

Of course, Kirsten. There is no insurance against that.

I said it not to put a jinx on you, just in case you believe in it.

A couple of month before this incident in Norway we were talking about similar one in supermarket in Holland.

Anyway, the WB’s thread about collective silence remains actual, doesn’t it?

Re: beauty .. friends ..

thanks.. but no i don't believe in jinxes

and yes, a collective silence, when all are quietly seeing for their own what is,
which then will be a collective seeing and the thinking together k talked about.

That sounds beautifully, Kirsten.

Krishnamurti was trying to do that, indeed, but I don’t think his audience to those times was really ready to adopt that practice.

And I also don’t think this kind of group could exist by putting people randomly together on commercial basis only.

Something much more is needed to achieve some really spiritual effect.

Re: beauty .. friends ..

We dont 'want any spriritual effect'. Just watching things what they are and refusing to escape into what I known. Meeting the moment and not running away. I think it is more about resetting our enormously complex body. In Kirsten's threat it was shown that there is a physical basis whatever we do, sense or think. I admit unexpected things may happen and that might be called 'spiritual' as you say. But more modestly one could say, just going back to basics, to the ground of what it means to live, or just freeing or opening up. There is no need for wanting but there is a need of being aware.

That transformation, mental revolution – that is the spiritual effect.
If you don’t want it you obviously will never get it.
Ultimately, it’s up to you, of course.

WB wrote:

Who asks you if you need for wanting or not?

Have you discovered the whole nature of your desire, of your wanting?

WB wrote:

And what sort of ‘unexpected things’ do you expect to happen?

The thought is substantial.

Krishnamurti said it just a little long before Kirsten.
Someone said it just a couple of millenniums before him.
I know people who see it for themselves just as a fact without any believing what somebody has ever said.

So, should it be an excuse not to want to work hard on self-knowledge?

Is that what you are saying?

You think so, really?

That knowing of that peculiar fact was the all thing what we had to know to get that famous transformation?

Wasn’t it supposed to be just a little bit of it?

So… I think for myself…
It was just enough to read the Kirsten’s thread…
