Kindly be mindful of the following points regarding the forum. Dialogue is thinking together - it isn’t debate - and it's inquiring together without end point or agenda. People come into the dialogue from their own place of understanding, which is not going to be your place of understanding. We’re here to communicate together, learn together and gain insight into our own thought; to receive and share our observations, not impose our views on others. Address the comments in a polite, considerate manner. By all means, ask for clarification, but challenge the comment, not the commentator. We don’t know enough about the others to make those judgments and we’re here to learn about ourselves, not to correct another's perceived personality flaws. If a comment brings an emotional response, look at that. Do you feel the need to defend? To attack? Time for some looking inward. Self protection results in war. Besides, the war is in each of us. Stop that war, and the rest will take care of itself. (For some suggestions on the nature of dialogue, please click here)

Re: what happened to the original johnr thread?

There was my answer to you too.
By the way, there was some misunderstanding  between us. I explained there.

natura: what misunderstanding? please re-explain (perhaps privately). :-)

troy: would you consider making it impossible for members to delete entire threads? (i'm sure this is an option you could turn on for the forum.) once a thread has gone "public" i don't think anyone, except the moderator, should have the ability to delete it.

Re: what happened to the original johnr thread?

I'll look into it. The problem is the system, as I've mentioned, it is something we use, we didn't create it. I read the thread, don’t recall any particular difficulty. One presumes that for conversations generally they assume that if the first post is gone, the rest of them don't make sense. Naturally, in dialogue, that's not necessarily so. They take on a life beyond the first post, which is the idea.
I might be able to archive them in some way. It would have to be automatic, I can’t keep re-archiving every thread every time there’s a new post.
We’ll figure out something.

thanks.

i'm guessing that if you talk to the creators of the forum software, they can easily disable the first message deletes thread "feature." :-)

Re: what happened to the original johnr thread?

Yes, please, reachMiel,

The misunderstanding is not so much serious, I think. But the points in your response, they were. I’ve got a copy from that message, here below.

Dear rachMiel,

You have taken my response too personally. I meant it more generally. For example, there was a very sharp message recently from Nevets accusing this forum of too much chatting and its participants of too much reading and watching of K. Actually I was sorry troy had deleted that thread with my response together. We could use it very practically for understanding now.

I see your current response is very topical in some points and I will respond it a bit later. But I’d like to drive your attention to my attitude to every conversation. My goal here never is suppressing the opponent, but getting that understanding of each other by finding that common level of communication. So, nobody must necessarily agree with me but I expect to be understood in my point of view.  It is absolutely not the same as arguing and even not as sharing of information.

I’m sure we will find that common level and avoid misunderstanding.
Regards.

Re: what happened to the original johnr thread?

Dear JohnR,

I hope you have understood that kind of my apologies in my thread devoted personally to you.

Certainly nobody deserves to be insulted along discussions even though an unusual for public forums sensitivity is showed.

...and just a trifle, you may rummage my premises, I do not have any loot.

Glad to read from you again.

ouch ... if you and other forum members feel i am doing this, sitting in judgement, then i am sorely miscommunicating. my intention has always been to "get to the bottom of things." but my efforts are it seems failing. apologies all 'round for any suffering i've created.

i shall go on an open-ended leave of absence from the forum ... explore my motives.

thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Eric, our KFA tech wizard, solved the problem. Going forward, users should not be able to delete threads they started, they can still delete or edit their other posts.

Re: what happened to the original johnr thread?

Hello rachMiel,

Here is my view in short terms on that issue you ask me about.

The common level of communication is that point on the mental dimension where people can understand each other. Some conditions must be present like the communication-partners use understandable for each other language; everybody fills the words with the same meaning and step-by-step principle as well as deepest attention not only to the spoken words but also to own inner reactions are required.

Under conditions like that is possible appearance of the communication on the thought and even image level (sometimes called telepathy).
Many people know that effect but not so many use it. I see it is absolutely necessary.
An effect, probably similar with resonance well known from Physics, appears. Coincidence of frequencies of two physical bodies causes release of enormous energies. Probably you can see it with me our thought is material.

Actually understanding comes in the mind not from words themselves but from gaps between them. If you observe yourself you can quite easy see it.
