This feature also requires users to verify new e-mail addresses if they choose to change from the one they registered with 3) click Dialogue Forum link to enter the dialogue forum 4) click on an existing thread or post a new topic 5) enjoy the dialogue.....
Kindly be mindful of the following points regarding the forum. Dialogue is thinking together - it isn’t debate - and it's inquiring together without end point or agenda. People come into the dialogue from their own place of understanding, which is not going to be your place of understanding. We’re here to communicate together, learn together and gain insight into our own thought; to receive and share our observations, not impose our views on others. Address the comments in a polite, considerate manner. By all means, ask for clarification, but challenge the comment, not the commentator. We don’t know enough about the others to make those judgments and we’re here to learn about ourselves, not to correct another's perceived personality flaws. If a comment brings an emotional response, look at that. Do you feel the need to defend? To attack? Time for some looking inward. Self protection results in war. Besides, the war is in each of us. Stop that war, and the rest will take care of itself. (For some suggestions on the nature of dialogue, please click here)

Re: Dedicated to all of the idiots amongst us:

It has come to my attention that the announcement on the first page of the Dialogue Forum has been recently revised. I suspect the additions are the work of our newly appointed cat-herder.

Since this thread is the most often read (read popular?) thread, sometime over a hundred hits a day, what better place to advertise that revision. I thought the bits about each of us coming from our own place of understanding, and this forum not being the place to correct another's perceived personality flaws were spot on.

At any rate, here is the revised version:

<<Kindly be mindful of the following points regarding the forum. Dialogue is thinking together - it isn’t debate - and it's inquiring together without end point or agenda. Yes, yours truly is responsible for a few revisions to the announcement at the top. For reference, here's my predecessor's version, which I thought made some pretty good points (most of which remain):

"Kindly be mindful of the following points regarding the forum. Dialogue is thinking together, it isn’t debate. There is no goal, you aren’t likely to arrive anyplace. People come into the dialogue from their own place of understanding, which is not going to be your place of understanding. We’re here to communicate together, learn together and gain insight into our own thought, to receive insight, not dispense insight. Dialogue has no gurus, everyone is a disciple, of themselves. Address the comments in a polite, considerate manner. By all means, ask for clarification, challenge the comment, not the commentator. We don’t know enough about the others to make those judgments and we’re here to learn about ourselves, not correct another’s perceived personality flaws. I noticed this morning that there were 48 "guests online" according to the forum home page. Could spam bots, crawlers, or spiders be the agents of this devilish clicking? Or maybe there are Internet cherubs blessing the thread. :-)

Re: Dedicated to all of the idiots amongst us:

bruce, old sock, or not so old sock. Here is the skinny on that category thingy, and why the empty category is the category necessary to negate the remains of an illusory connection. This will get formal, so look for the picture painted in terms of logical distinctions.

A difference in time is noted as a before and after difference. The connection is the between of this before and after, and is a between that allows for such a shift, like the arrow of time has a null point in the middle of its point, like a past to now and from now into the future.

To bring this connection to an end is to remove that between necessary for the change to occur; but this leaves two things that were once separated in time present to each other at once.

We can either ignore that double remainder or account for it. The way to account for it is to place that difference in time within its own category, so that when that double residue occurs, it is still in a container and it is that container that can be emptied.

Tag that container as the mind, and the empty category is the empty mind. Or again, the empty mind is the category necessary if there is a mind that can be so emptied.

Or again, [thought has been bracketed as being thought].

That formal theme of an empty mind may be played in as many variations as there are shticks to conduct them. Here is such a shtick.

When my mind is empty, it is full of what is going on, as if I am grounded in, have my substance with, or finding a place where the finding is the place, and the re-connection has already been made.

The first connection has been broken, the transcendental between has been negated, and the ground resets.

Turn it around and the ground is broken by a before and after that requires the presence of someone to claim that spot between the two as their own.

Then say this: There is a before and after whose before has a before and after and whose after has no before, which means that there can be no between; the transcendental remnants must also be done away with.

Wake up and smell the coffee?

Re: Dedicated to all of the idiots amongst us:

Two themes here: one, is this how you are speaking to the mind which has a before and an after? Do you honestly think anyone with a before and an after understands this?
But you also said you are not serious about pointing the difference to such a mind.

What I want to know here is this: is this lack of seriousness-in your words-also a lack of compassion? Are they the same thing, seriousness and compassion? You seem to be thinking they're different.

And what is the actual answer? Where is the illusion? Specifically, precisesly, exactly where?

Re: Dedicated to all of the idiots amongst us:

Well, hello again Mr. Sean, this is the tomato side of the pass.

bruce sez: <Two themes here: one, is this how you are speaking to the mind which has a before and an after? Do you honestly think anyone with a before and an after understands this?
But you also said you are not serious about pointing the difference to such a mind. …>

Ole, mi amigo! You and I are standing back to back here; you are describing the fragmented mind in real time, and I am speaking to those who already know what you are, uh, *not offering* here.

<… What I want to know here is this: is this lack of seriousness-in your words-also a lack of compassion? Are they the same thing, seriousness and compassion? You seem to be thinking they're different. …>

No, you think that because you see that in what I have said. There is seriousness and there is seriousness, and one on them does not belong to the serious that lives within the fragmented mind.

You do not see that I see that difference. I do not know if that is because you are seeing the fragmentation language requires, or because we have a difference in common that requires the extraction of the personal from it. I can't form an image of what that difference looks like.

<…  And what is the actual answer? Where is the illusion? Specifically, precisesly, exactly where?>

When the mind is empty, no illusion is possible; there is no where, else there must be an elsewhere.

Stick it in your ear, or shout hallelujah, whichever: It's in the mind!

Light is too fast to get out of the first quadrant, which means it must slow down to get back to where it started. So, the only way to get around infinity is to slow down.

Naw, that's cool...
