Kindly be mindful of the following points regarding the forum. Dialogue is thinking together - it isn’t debate - and it's inquiring together without end point or agenda. People come into the dialogue from their own place of understanding, which is not going to be your place of understanding. We’re here to communicate together, learn together and gain insight into our own thought; to receive and share our observations, not impose our views on others. Address the comments in a polite, considerate manner. By all means, ask for clarification, but challenge the comment, not the commentator. We don’t know enough about the others to make those judgments and we’re here to learn about ourselves, not to correct another's perceived personality flaws. If a comment brings an emotional response, look at that. Do you feel the need to defend? To attack? Time for some looking inward. Self protection results in war. Besides, the war is in each of us. Stop that war, and the rest will take care of itself. (For some suggestions on the nature of dialogue, please click here)

Nationalism?

By the way, isn't cinco de mayo-this past Saturday-just as silly as the 4th of July? They both celebrate what? Division, which is conflict. So they both celebrate conflict...Whoever parties on those days, including some Buddhist temples(!), as I said last year, are encouraging conflict...

I agree Bruce. Very insightful. Let me ask you though to explain more about the Buddhist Temples, that sounds intriguing. What did you say last year about them, how are the Buddhists encouraging conflict.

Re: Has anyone seen the CNN story on Jesus, last night?

Last year I happened to take a trip a little bit East of Los Angeles, somewhere in Hacienda Heights, I believe. There was a Buddhist Temple there and I walked in, and sat quietly in a so-called Meditation Room for an hour or so. I've watched people come there, and do some absurd rituals, like raising their arms, kneeling, chanting something, then again the whole routine would start over-it was tiring to even watch all that. Something did happen in that room, because of its special acoustics, but it can be deceiving to immature people doing rituals...
It was clear to me that place was an escape for people to come after work, and enjoy a so-called elite group, feeling special, different from the rest and all that-and then going home and doing the exact things anybody in the world does: manipulation, corruption, attempt to control others, to persuade them, all that. It was quite ugly, if one could see all that, in one glance.

And on top of all that, there was a flyer which announced that the Temple was celebrating the incoming 4th of July, as part of an effort to integrate into the community. So wanting to fit in, moneywise and otherwise, there had to be compromise, give the people  the illusion of them being a special place, a religious place, but which also encourages nationalism, all at the same time! A 'true' combo: religion and nationalism!!! I took it as a sign of not-understanding the true destructive power of nationalism.

I have the 'feeling' I was writing all this last year in response to some post of yours about Buddhism, since I know you are interested in it. I mean, this is how I learned that you are, by reading some posts you wrote about a year ago.

Yes, Bruce, interesting post. Thank you.

And yes, I am interested in Buddhism, I have studied it off and on for years now. And even went to go see some Buddhist teachers at times. Although, it has been a while now since I went to see one.

The last one I saw was a Tibetan Buddhist Rinpoche and I asked him if he read or knew of K. He said yes, but all he knew of him was from "At the feet of the Master." I encountered this before with another Buddhist Monk. Interesting that there only exposure to K was through that little book that was when K was still in the Theosophical Society.

So many contradictions between Religion and a way of life that is free of hatred, division, antagonism, etc. And Buddhism is no different than the others. I have seen it too, Bruce. Thanks again for your sharing.

I don't really know about Buddhism as a whole: but that temple surely didn't get it, that's all I'm saying.

In the following quotations K discussed about himself.

Years of Fulfilment-page-226.

K-  Yes, the vacancy has never gone away.At the dentist for four hours not a single thought came in to my head.Only when talking & writing does 'this' come in to play.I am amazed. The vacancy is still there.from that age till now-eighty or so-to keep a mind that is vacant. What does it? You can feel it in the room now.It is happening in this room now because we are touching something very, very serious & it comes pouring in.The mind of this man from childhood till now is constantly vacant.I don't want to make a mystery-why can't it happen to everyone?

Page 230-

K- Amma & Leadbeater maintained that a Bodhisatva was to manifest & they must find a body-the tradition of the Avatar manifesting. The Buddha went through all that, the suffering etc.,then threw it aside and became enlightened. What he taught was original but he went through all that. But here is a freak who didn't go through any of it.Jesus may have been a freak too.The power must have watched over this body from the moment it was born. Why? How did it happen? A boy from a family that was nothing special. How did that boy happen to be there? Was it the power wanting to manifest that created the boy or was it that the power saw a Brahmanical family, an eighth child, & said, 'That is the boy.'?

You will find in chapter 20 titled 'Who or What is Krishnamurti?' in the 'Years of Fulfilment' details of the discussion.

but here is a freak... is it that?

Well a freak would be some different creature coming up among a certain species naturally. If some great beings guarded boy K & manifested to preach it can't be called a freak.
You see in Buddhism it is stated that there would be human beings who see the teachings in 2500 years or so. A monk wrote that in the papers saying they must stay prepared for it. He was waiting for a monk clad in robes to appear!! In Christianity they say too Jesus is coming back! I believe this is around the period. K appeared in the most unusual manner. It's the work of some greate beings I feel. There are very very great beings who are far,far more intelligent without physical bodies that appear to us, that I know personally now. It's their work I feel.

Nope sir, I don't think it is that. I understand what you say though.I don't want to say further because what I have to say will look a theory & our conditioning will come in between our discussions. It will hamper our discussions.

You feel? Hah.  That's quite hilarious.  Perhaps what you feel is that this planet is too much of a challenge for your weak and flabby mind and body, and thus you feel the only way to cope is with the help of supernatural bodyless beings.

Good luck getting a body-less being to teach you how to inhabit a body!

Ah friend, you won't find me answering that. Can such a thing be proved? Obviously not. It's for each person to find out. But one thing is now clear. That you are a heavenly being among us mortals is now suspect!

Ha, ha, my friend end the delusion of RJ substatially, then you will know what it is to suffer from this apparent delusion.

I'm as mortal as they come.  I suggest that you pull your head out of your interdimensional ass and join us here in this orderly universe.

Whatever cosmic beings you are listening too, I suggest you drop them like a bad habit. Clearly they aren't smart enough to point out your hopelessly fragmented mind so what good are they?

But still, it implies an ending of the delusion, and then one will know what it means to suffer from this apparent delusion. Perhaps you want to say that before one was blind to the delusion, more or less completely, and so the suffering of the whole world was not quite seen.
