you could hear it for a while in the distance and then the lightning strikes grew rapidly across the horizon...lateral strikes are a sight to see and often seen in these parts of the ohio valley. Maybe twelve forks off one lateral that arced across the northwest skyline, just magnificent. The cats scurried around, not knowing whether to run in or run out, storms do that to them sometimes. Took up a good seat did I, watching the koi swim and the reflected lightning in their habitats surface.
It is past now, jut a rumble in the distance but everything changed, just like that...the koi knew it, the cats knew it, and I knew it.

But now it's a memory for you, and not for them.

Stream of consciousness writing is memory in action. I'm not having a dig at you Joe, this is an interesting topic.

yeah, you are right, it is the reporting of consciousness, which is always second hand news...not that it is a bad thing, I don't mean that, but it is never ahead of the curve. Looking ahead to the curve ends the streams flowing.

joe, this stream of consciousness can become the well of understanding is the subject of that stream is the understanding that fills the well in the first place.
I call it wonking, and all I do is open its cage and let it out to prowl through the world of grammar, looking for absolute differences to gorge upon.

Hi Joe, but can you say what changed? Just wondering...

Yeah, I could also feel it, something is brewing'....I can smell it, see it, touch it almost...and it keeps calling you on and on infinitely, what is it, um?

it was not meant to indicate a change in me, just a change in the environment of the moment...

I did understand it as you meant, that you weren't talking about change in you. It just made me wonder deeply for a moment into the nature of this change....into what changes whether it be in the environment, nature, or even in ourselves...as we are also a part of nature and environment. In other words simply pondered into this thing called change, an interesting point you shared.

I seriously question that!

Why would someone not do metaphors?
Offline
well that is a good question, and one we are still puzzling over it would appear...I can give reasons I think but that is kinda boring. A metaphor is basically a picture bubble. Some people see their reflection in the multicolored translucence and some people pop it.

Of course, it was a metaphor, but I question what was behind it, the fact behind it.
You are saying that talking about something which happened in the past, even briefly, as in reporting, stops the flow of reality, at least for the moment, in the sense that it's not the same thing which was 'experienced' previously.
I question that the flow has to stop, you follow?

There's danger in using metaphors, but as long as one's aware of that danger there's no problem using them OCCASIONALLY. We can easily become theoretical when getting lost in metaphors for their own sake.

Ah, it sense makes, joe, the bruce accepts only metaphors that are constructed according to the meaning the bruce gives to things.
No effin' wonder you can't talk to him about the metaphorical -- you always end up on the cutting room floor.

I did not say talking about it stopped the flow, that is your interpretation. I said that looking ahead to the curve (which metaphorically points to the projection of imagination) is what stopped the flow, not the reporting of what is there. A healthy distrust of what your brain says is good to keep in the pocket, it leads to questions. Absent that distrust it all comes off the cuff, has the smell of authority and generally misses the mark.
Offline
Ah no, no authority. Miss? Correction, and moving on.
But I want to get it clear: how does the flow stop again? When does looking ahead of the curve happen? Looking ahead to see what?

No, we can talk, but please be patient and explain the metaphor, if it's that complicated, and there's no problem.

So much for inquiry.
