Kindly be mindful of the following points regarding the forum. Dialogue is thinking together - it isn’t debate - and it's inquiring together without end point or agenda. People come into the dialogue from their own place of understanding, which is not going to be your place of understanding. We’re here to communicate together, learn together and gain insight into our own thought; to receive and share our observations, not impose our views on others. Address the comments in a polite, considerate manner. By all means, ask for clarification, but challenge the comment, not the commentator. We don’t know enough about the others to make those judgments and we’re here to learn about ourselves, not to correct another's perceived personality flaws. If a comment brings an emotional response, look at that. Do you feel the need to defend? To attack? Time for some looking inward. Self protection results in war. Besides, the war is in each of us. Stop that war, and the rest will take care of itself. (For some suggestions on the nature of dialogue, please click here)

Exactly. Therefore he invents whatever he wants. Psychologically, there is no 'round the next bend in the road' at all.

no need for applause, it has no value. it's your work to prove what k had said, nothing else.

No, to try and prove what he said makes no sense because this assumes from the start that K is right. And K may be wrong.

No, I am waiting to listen to you. There is neither the expectation of it nor the demand for it, even though I may cajole you, tease you, bully you a little (I hope not without affection). I am demanding a dialogue with life, that's all. You are a part of that dialogue if you so wish to be. No-one can force you into it.

In other words, can there be a subject who doesn't believe? Or, if there is a subject, 'it' must believe. And, conversely, if there are no beliefs where is the subject? Don't use the word 'self' just yet because that gives an answer right from the start. Some may say there might be a subject who is not the self and who doesn't believe. Is that possible?

No, it's not possible. It's just a shift of words. It's a way of transcending the problem of the subject/self by using a linguistic device. It's like saying there might be a subject who is not the subject.

Right. So, no beliefs no subject, because the subject WAS all those beliefs. The subject was not static, but a movement, the same movement as those beliefs. There is no static subject.

Yes, that's it. And the moving subject is endlessly searching for its own staticity, solidity, certainty. But when it stops moving, it is not then static; for when the subject ceases to move, the subject ceases too, not just the movement. So there is certainty only in death.

No, life doesn't tell you anything about yourself; it can't. The moment it says, 'You are this,' - good, bad, anything - it has created division because it is then just one fragment of life talking to another fragment. After all, we know what we are like as human beings. We can take any word and turn it round to suit ourselves, to suit our purposes. So the label is meaningless because it implies the labeller and the labelled as though they are two separate entities.

And I have nothing to offer. Therefore a dialogue between us is possible. The moment one of us says, 'Look, I have got this to offer you,' then the dialogue ceases or grinds to a halt because there is then a division as teacher and student, as leader and follower.

Are you asking me a genuine question or are you assuming that you already know the answer? It's not clear from the way you've phrased it. If you are asking me a genuine question, then surely that question is something worthy of dialogue, something worthy of exploration.

Well, if I had assumed there wouldn't be a question mark, right.  It was a genuine question, ofcourse.

Good. But what are we to do with this question? Is it a question we are both of us willing to go into very deeply and thrash out its full implications? Or is it that you want a quick answer to it, a personal answer from me?

Now it's not clear anymore, to me. The subject was not something apart from that movement. So when the movement stops the subject ends, too, obviously. The subject was that movement, and when the movement is not, the subject is not either. They weren't two.

Ok, after re-reading a few times what you said I guess you've put it in your words.

Now, what kind of certainty do you have in mind, when speaking of death? Certainty might mean something static, palpable, solid. And usually that kind of death, of that movement, never happens, all the way 'till one physically dies. Is that what you had in mind? Physical death? That it's the only thing certain in life?

And we know that, don't we? Deep down we know that our only certainty is physical death, an event which also visits upon us total psychological death. Therefore this movement that we've been talking about, the movement of the subject or the self, the whole movement of belief, is merely a search for an alternative certainty. But there is no alternative certainty. So it is the non-acceptance of death, of our personal physical death or ending, that sets the movement going. And while we are thus moving, we can never find a thing, we can never meet, we can never communicate. We are like people trapped in cars speeding up and down the same motorway; the most we can do is offer a fleeting wave. It's only when that movement stops we can meet: meet each other, meet the birds, meet the beauty of nature, meet the ugliness of our built environment, meet the insanity of our own minds, and much, much more.

I've begun a new thread called 'Why are we afraid of death?' deliberately to delve into all this. But I don't mind carrying this on with you here.

Quite right, which is why all these questions you pose are bullshit.  I have said that from the beginning.  They are traps for the dull....spider webs laid out by you to see if any human bodies are dull/fragmented enough to walk into them.

Only a mind lost in duality would answer any of your bullshit questions. A person would have to believe/perceive they are a fragment to answer any of them or give them the time of day. Right?
