Kindly be mindful of the following points regarding the forum. Dialogue is thinking together - it isn’t debate - and it's inquiring together without end point or agenda. People come into the dialogue from their own place of understanding, which is not going to be your place of understanding. We’re here to communicate together, learn together and gain insight into our own thought; to receive and share our observations, not impose our views on others. Address the comments in a polite, considerate manner. By all means, ask for clarification, but challenge the comment, not the commentator. We don’t know enough about the others to make those judgments and we’re here to learn about ourselves, not to correct another's perceived personality flaws. If a comment brings an emotional response, look at that. Do you feel the need to defend? To attack? Time for some looking inward. Self protection results in war. Besides, the war is in each of us. Stop that war, and the rest will take care of itself. (For some suggestions on the nature of dialogue, please click here)

Who am I?

In the latest 'Spiderman', at the end of the movie, a drama teacher (I suppose) says that some famous writer said there are really only 10 plots in history, but-according to her-there is really only one: who am I?

So who am I? It's my favorite question to ask around people. How would you answer this question?

Not me, but you: who am I, with you asking that question. You are not many things, but who are you? Who am I?

Here's a start: if you're celebrating today, you know who you are: an idiot, right?!

I haven't gone yet, but here, in the South Bay, there are parties in the street all day long, anyone invited, girls in bikinis galore, every other house on the Strand or close by, and later there will be fireworks in several cities along the coast, the best of which are usually held in Manhattan Beach.

Confusion rules today and it's in plain view!

You first. I like to start with "I am not jello", but you may prefer to start smaller, say something like "I am not a nematode".

Re: Who am I?

To have fun is one thing-to have fun drinking, taking drugs, having sex with whomever is quite another; and to have fun doing all that in the name of division-which is what today is glorifying-is yet another thing. Stupidity at its best!

  To#7.

Re: Who am I?

the answer is the same for anyone...I am always a collection of stories, and nothing more.  Absent the stories I still am but am not the am I thought I am.

This is not a game. I don't mind if you don't want to answer it, yet the question stands.

Is the collection of stories an entity? But don't answer it for everyone, joe-some might see it differently.
So is it an entity? The stories do hold together, don't they?

Re: Who am I?

they are held together...much of which is very necessary and generative and some which only causes distortion.

So it's what you see as overindulgence in pleasures that you;re referring to as confusion and stupidity. OK. However, I'm sure there is a proportion of those people who aren't overindulging, just having fun.

Re: Who am I?

in the conventional sense the stories do constitute an entity but in the absolute sense of course the opposite is so.

Yay! A loaded question. Can I play, can I play?!

Oddly enough I grew out of spiderman movies and loaded questions about the same time. (6th grade)

Well, it is and isn't a game. If you're serious about finding the answer, then you'd need to look for yourself.

The reason for the jello is that it is a process of negation. So I don't mind if you don't want to answer it, but you did raise the topic....

I'm afraid you missed the main point I was making, sorry to say it. Having fun on this particular day is pure evil...

What is the central piece which holds this 'entity' together, let's call it that for the moment?

We're looking together for an answer. I don't have time to negate all the things that exist-I will die before I complete that process.

So instead of going out to the parties and the girls and celebrating this pure evil divisive day, you are going to stay in and type up a storm on the K Forum. Sounds like fun, LOL.......

As for confusion ruling today, today is no different than any other day really. Most of the world parties and lives in confusion, duality, every day... Today is not so different..... Go out Bruce, and get a hot dog at a barbeque and flirt with the ladies in the bikinis and maybe get lucky, turn this day into something special..... It aint so bad, when in Rome, act like the Romans....

And report back, and tell us who you are and who these others are. Better yet, ask the girls in the bikinis, Who am I? Who are you? That would be a fun Fourth of July....

Re: Who am I?

From wikipedia: "Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States."

Now Bruce, is this so bad? Really? You live here in the United States and enjoy all of its benefits, and here you call this day pure evil. Hmmmmm........ It aint so bad, join the club, be a American and celebrate today......
